Samsung appears to have quietly introduced the Galaxy A15, a budget-friendly smartphone that might feature a 6.5-inch AMOLED screen.
The device might have gone unnoticed if not for being discovered by 9To5Google on Walmart’s website. According to sources, the A15 will come in two different configurations based on the carrier. The Cricket Wireless version features a 6.5-inch IPS LCD display with a Full HD Plus resolution (2,220 x 1,080 pixels) and a 90 Hz adaptive refresh rate. The Boost Mobile listing states it has an AMOLED screen with a 1080p resolution (1,920 x 1,080 pixels).
The AMOLED feature is not listed in the product page’s specifications table. However, it can be seen in the rotating images on the left of the A15’s box. Although slightly grainy, the word “AMOLED” is visible on the label.
Specs and features
If the information is accurate, the Galaxy A15 could be a better deal than its predecessor, the A14, as both versions of the newer model are significantly cheaper. The Cricket Wireless A15 is priced at $150, while the Boost Mobile device is even lower at $140. Samsung currently charges $200 for the A14. Deals on Amazon do not reduce the price anywhere near what Walmart is offering.
Looking at the specs sheet, the A15 is nearly identical to the A14. The Boost Mobile version has the same 50 MP rear camera, whereas the Cricket Wireless model has a downgraded 13 MP rear lens. Both have a 13MP selfie camera. Additionally, both come with a 5,000mAh battery, supporting 25W fast charging, an upgrade from the 15W charging on the older model.
Storage remains at 128GB, expandable to 1TB via microSD card, and the A15 has 4GB of RAM. The Boost Mobile model is heavier at 7.12 oz, while the Cricket Wireless model is lighter at 5.64 oz. Other features include a MediaTek 6835 processor and a side-mounted fingerprint reader.
Despite the promising features, it’s important to approach this information with caution as Samsung has yet to make an official announcement. The Cricket Wireless post lacks images but is expected to be available in the same “Blue Black” shade as mentioned on the Boost Mobile page. The Galaxy A15 is currently listed as out of stock on Walmart’s website, and it remains to be seen when it will be officially launched. This story will be updated when new information is available.
