OnePlus enjoys teasing its phones before the official launch, and a week ahead of the full announcement event, the company has unveiled numerous photos and a video of the OnePlus 12.
Shared through several Weibo posts (via Android Authority), the images depict a design resembling that of the OnePlus 11, consistent with earlier leaked imagery.
The rear of the phone hosts a large circular camera block housing three lenses, while the back of the phone is covered in glass. The OnePlus 12 will be available in green, white, or black, in line with earlier confirmations.
The visible features reveal two main differences from the OnePlus 11. Firstly, the camera block matches the color of the rear, unlike the OnePlus 11 where the circular element housing the lenses is always black, irrespective of the body color.
Additionally, the alert slider has been relocated from the right edge to the left. This move allows placement of the antenna where the alert slider used to be, a decision taken by OnePlus in view of optimal positioning for gaming, reportedly resulting in a 15% reduction in latency.
The company also provides some key specifications, including a 3x zoom telephoto camera, a top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, up to 24GB of RAM, and up to 1TB of storage. A video offering a closer look at the cameras is available below, originally shared on Weibo but uploaded to YouTube by @HadleeSimons.
Launching on December 5
For detailed specifications and a front-view of the OnePlus 12, enthusiasts must await the full announcement scheduled for December 5 at 2:30pm in China. International audiences can catch the event at 1:30am ET / 6:30am GMT / 5:30pm AEDT on December 5, or 10:30pm PT on December 4.
Interestingly, the company had previously indicated a December 4 unveiling, which was later shifted by a day. The December 4 event, commemorating the 10-year anniversary of OnePlus, might still proceed, with uncertain announcements.
The OnePlus 12 is likely to debut in China initially, with a global launch anticipated early next year. Prospective buyers may have to wait for over a month before they can get their hands on this potential top-tier phone.
